Guest curators Marysol Nieves and Monica Espinel
For three decades, the Artist in the Marketplace (AIM) program has helped to demystify the often opaque professional practices of the art world for artists at the beginning of their careers and has introduced their work to the public. Taking AIM! 30-Year Anniversary Exhibition features archival material documenting the evolution of the AIM program over the years.

Urban Archives: Emilio Sanchez in the Bronx

This exhibition presents a group of works by Emilio Sanchez from The Bronx Museum of the Arts Permanent Collection, together with related archival material and a special interpretive project by Bronx-based artist Laura Napier. All the works depict commercial buildings in the Hunts Point area of the South Bronx.

AIM BIENNIAL GETS AN APP!

Download here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/collectrium/id377459865?mt=8

In collaboration with Collectrium, a New York-based arts technology startup, the Bronx Museum of the Arts has created a mobile app for Bronx Calling: The First AIM Biennial.

iPhone and iPad users can access the biennial app by downloading the ArtCapture app from the Apple app store.  Once downloaded, the user can browse works on view at the Bronx Museum and Wave Hill, as well as the five site-specific commissioned projects at Randall's Island as part of FLOW.11.

With ArtCapture, which is powered by Collectrium, the user can even take a photograph of a work of art at any of the three sites to instantly identify and learn more about the piece, and save and organize a group of favorites.  It's also easy to share favorites with friends on Twitter, Facebook and via email.

The First AIM Biennial App on Artcapture is powered by Collectrium, a technology company focused on bringing innovative and friendly technology to arts and culture world round.

Strongend at the Bronx Museum

FRIDAY NIGHT, June 10, 6:30-8:30pm
Bronx Talk: Bronx Stories

Tired of people who know little about our stories speaking for us? Come up to the Bronx Museum for Bronx Talk: Bronx Stories. It's a public program showcasing stories that are about the Bronx and that have been inspired by artworks in the Museum's exhibitions.

The goals of
Bronx Stories are fourfold: to challenge stereotypes about the Bronx and promote positive images of the borough; provide a platform for voices from the community and space for the community to come together; encourage deeper engagement with art; and to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere in the Museum.

By telling our stories and listening to stories from different people, places, and times, we can rise above stereotypes and strengthen our community.
